Ok, I'm bored, so I thought it would be quite nice to start blogging again. Well, nice isn't the word. The word is "Slightly-less-boring-than-sitting-around-doing-sweet-f.a.". And yes, it is ONE WORD! It's hyphenated ;]
So, I wanted to rant today, but you probably won't want to read about my annoyances, because Id just name "Such and Such a person" and then I'd get my arse kicked in school. Which would be a pity in itself, because I've gone at least two months without getting beat up. Really. Believe me, please...
So basically I thought I might write about that thing that was recently in the news about France banning Headscarves in public places. Now, I'm going to be impartial at least for this next paragraph, while I try to explain to you what the French government are doing and why.
The thing is, the French government is Secularized. If you don't know what that means, it's the concept of a government or other entities being COMPLETELY seperate from any kind of religous influence. And no, I didn't copy and paste that from Wikipedia! Anyway, what the secularisation of the French government means is that everybody is equal, no matter what religion you are. What the French government is TRYING to do with the banning of the headscarves and all, is making sure that everybody is equal. Or so they say. Now what is getting on people's goat is that the government is apparently infringing people's rights to do what they want to within the law. But the thing is, the government is trying to CHANGE that law. Now, the French government is saying what is very important is that people willnot be allowed to wear these scarves in public, but they will when in the privacy of their own homes. Like being naked, basically ;]
So what do I think about this? Well actually, I'm quite pro-banning. I know, que the long attacks of "Boo-Hiss! What about people's civil liberties?" Well, the thing is, if this makes everyone in France slightly more equal, well, go for it! Why not? And by the way, it only tells women to "Dress Conservitavley" in th Qur'an, so nobody can make that argument ;]
Well, all the best, and sorry for not blogging in a while!
